Business School Partnership Chair: Eileen Vaughan Colorworks Promotions, 301-933-3559 Business School Partnership (BSP) committee spearheads CBN-MC's continuing effort to forge a strong relationship between the business and schools communities. Seeks nominees for individual parish Business-School Partners to be recognized for their contribution to Catholic education. Works closely with schools in encouraging full participation in the annual GALA, a once-a-year opportunity for business and school people to meet, to get to know each other and better to understand the needs of the other. CBN-MC Scholarship Program Chair: John Matteo Jackson & Campbell, P.C., 202-457-5457 Committee administers Scholarship Essay Competition with support of Catholic Schools, arranges for Catholic High School teachers to participate in judging the approximately 100 essays submitted, and arranges for the winners and their families to attend and be recognized at the Gala. CBN-MC treasurer sends Grant checks to the selected high schools in August before the fall opening of schools. Honorable mention winners receive CBN-MC letter highlighting their highly competitive essays for use in building an individual portfolio of activities necessary to college admission. CBN-MC Youth Coaches Hall of Fame Induction Sports Luncheon Chair: John Matteo Jackson & Campbell 202-457-5457 Committee organizes, promotes and administers a dynamic annual sports luncheon to recognize CYO and other youth coaches in Montgomery County for the tremendous service they provide Catholic youth (pre-high school), Catholic schools and Catholic families. The recognition takes the form of induction into the CBN-MC Youth Coaches Hall of Fame. Twelve coaches have been inducted into the Hall of Fame since the inauguration of this visible and exciting event. The key to the expanding attendance at each luncheon is the featuring of area sports figures as guests at sponsored tables. It provides especially valuable networking within the Montgomery County youth sports community. A March luncheon is planned. CBN-MC Scholarship Program Golf Tournament Chair: Matt CarroccioSmith Barney 202-861-5123 DATE: TBD at Whiskey Creek Foursome sponsors, green sponsors, and sponsors of various aspects of the tournament help raise money to fund the CBN-MC Scholarship program. This is another opportunity for relationship bonding vital to effective networking with fellow Catholic business people. CBN-MC Breakfasts The warmth and friendship visible to all at the 7:30 a.m. breakfasts held on the 2nd Friday of each month at Dave and Busters at the top of White Flint Mall (plenty of free parking) is the mainstay of the CBN-MC organization. Networking. Celebrity speakers. Member Spotlight drawing each month for opportunity to address the next breakfast. Needs and Leads opens the floor to all members and guests. New members and guests recognized. Short business meeting to update members about CBN-MC's ongoing work and much more in business building activities. Business Fair twice annually provides an hour or more for every member to showcase products and services their businesses offer at half tables in a trade show format at no cost to members. Email Administrator Peg Duchesne Membership Committee Chair: Mike Miller American Office, 202-737-3889 Committee works to create a seamless membership experience to help give new members and orientation of how CBN functions and the benefits of membership. Tasked with contacting each new member and finding ways to help them connect with other members and increase CBN awareness among parishes, schools and businesses. Meetings are 1X each month, last Thursday of each month Savannah's in Kensington. Communications Committee Chair: Rob Smith, Fitzgerald Auto Malls, 301-252-7268 Committee works to help create awareness of CBN through website administration, publication of e-News, development of press releases and contact with local media. Meetings are 3-4 X per year, much work through email and the telephone. Scholarship Luncheon Committee Co-Chair Marilyn Proccacini, MP Search 301-515-3299 The Scholarship Luncheon Committee meets 2-3X as needed in preparation for a lunch where the scholarships essay winners are recognized with their parents, pastors, principals and business leaders. Volunteers help arrange seating, design the program, coordinate pictures and facilitate check in. Gala Committee Chair: Michael Bruckwick, Katinas Bruckwick Architecture 301-652-8300 The Gala committee works in cooperation with the full CBN Board to create our signature event for the year where schools are awarded annual grants and the Business, Volunteer and CBN Business Person of the year are awarded. This committee meets once a month, then several times a month as the event draws closer. Volunteers are needed for every aspect of the event, registration, creative writing, advertising, gathering auction items, program development. This committee has a long history of experienced volunteers who are eager and willing to share ideas and experience. New members are always welcome. |
